U/12's Final vs Robertson
The boys were off to a bad start when one of their strongest fielders, Brent Anlezark broke his finger on Friday night. This allowed little Grant Pike to take his place in the final eleven and he would later prove his value to the team.
Robertson won the toss and sent the tigers into bat. Andrew Benson and Matthew Jay got the side off to a solid start and were 1/22 off 7 overs. Matt was out for 4, then Josh Parry and Michael Sant both went cheaply for 2. Greg Copeland and Dean Armida both scored ducks. When Andrew was forced to retire on 30, things were not looking too good.
The score was 8/74 with 7 overs to go and the inexperienced Grant Pike came to the crease. Grant had only batted twice during the season but he put his head down and played unreal openers innings keeping out ball after ball. Shayne Scott was out for 6 which allowed Andrew Benson back to the crease. He pushed off a single which then put Grant back on strike. Unfortunately he got clean bowled. The Cubs were all out for 88.
Robertson's turn at the crease started disasterously when Dean picked up a wicket of the first ball from a great catch in slips from Andrew. Some solid batting from Robertson saw the score reach 22 when Michael took a wicket. Matthew Jay, leading wicket taker for the cubs took the next wicket and Robbo were 3/27 off 10 overs. Michael took another 2 wickets putting him on a hat trick but he missed out when the catch was put down. Robbo 5/41. Robertson then lost their last 5 wickets for 26 runs. At the end of their innings, Robertson were 10/67. Congratulations to the Cubs.
